It looks like you are one of the few people who has this beliefs and
convictions. To be honest, before making the tough decission of stopping the
Soundart project I have contacted most of the leading hardware manufacturers
worldwide to propose them to take over Soundart, but to my great dismay,
their interest and willingness were simply zero: they did not believe at all
in the concept and potential market for the Chameleon.
Well, of course I have considered all what you say, but by now I simply can
not assume by myself any additional financial risk in advertisign and
exposure given the evident fact that computer software is the dominating
trend today and the risk of investing in advertising and exposing a hardware
product like the Chameleon is simply daunting.
On the other hand, the Chameleon mkI is "old" by any current hardware
standards. Keep in mind that it was launched in 2001. A substantial redesign
would be necessary and, again, the financial risk is too big for the reason
mentioned.
Finally, to relaunch a redesigned Chameleon mkI, its retail price would have
to be substantially reduced to match the current market standards and
expectations. This would mean mass production to be able to accomodate also
profit margins for distributors and dealers. Again, the financial risks are
too big.
I would like to mention that I had the idea of trying to build a community
of micro-investors (people like you) to fund the current and new Soundart
projects, but I realized that I can simply not manage this by myself.
By the way, by the time of launch from 2001 to 2002, the Chameleon was
exhibited at the Frankfurt Musik Messe, reviews were published in the main
magazines worldwide, and press releases published in printed and online
media. I mean that it received quite a lot of exposure, at least the kind of
exposure we could afford by then.

Unfortunately, all the development at Soundart has been stopped and, being
realistic, it is quite doubtful that I could find anybody willing to
continue the development for altruistic reasons. This means that by now it
is quite unlikely that an Australis update will happen. Sorry.
