The FT8U232AM Rev 2 evaluation kit is packaged as a compact USB <=> RS232 cable in an attractive enclosure and uses the enhanced Sipex SP213EHCA as it's RS232 level converter so is able to support RS232 baud rates of up to 460k baud. The FT8U232AM Rev 2 evaluation kit is now available from FTDI and it's sales network in Europe, USA and Japan.
For those FTDI customers who wish to package their own USB design in an attractive enclosure, we will be making the USB cable, enclosure and DB9 connector available as a set ( without electronics ) priced at $600 for a box of 100 sets. Contact FTDI sales if you are interested.
For manufacturers who are interested in making this product for themselves either with our enclosure or one of their own design, we can supply you with the US232 reference design free of charge. This consists of schematics, bill of materials and the pcb design in Gerber format.
