The AT89C51RD2/ED2 offers additional features such as power fail detect,
while staying fully compatible with T89C51RD2. There are two versions:
The AT89C51RD2 is without EEPROM, while the AT89C51ED2 is available with
2K Bytes of EEPROM directly compatible with T89C51RD2.
The FLIP ISP software V1.8.8 is available for free on the Atmel Web site
and fully supports the AT89C51RD2/ED2.
Please refer to the datasheets to compare features.

AT89C51RD2/ED2 samples are available now. Order entry is open.
Production ramp-up will start beginning of June.

For some time, both products will continue to be available i.e.
T89C51RD2 and AT89C51RD2/ED2. However pricing will be more attractive
for the newer versions with a possible last time buy being issued on the
older version at a later time.

Hence, we advise you to qualify and replace the existing T89C51RD2 backlog
with the AT89C51RD2 and AT89C51ED2 new versions and also to use them for
all new design-in opportunities.
